Westbrook Inc., founded by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, sells a minority stake.

Westbrook also produces "Cobra Kai," a Netflix hit that just returned for a fourth season, as well as "Welcome to Earth," a National Geographic series 

that debuted on Disney Plus. Upcoming releases include "Amend: The Fight For America," a Netflix docuseries about the Fourteenth Amendment, and "Emancipation," an Apple TV Plus action-thriller starring Will Smith about a runaway slave.

Several production companies and studios have received proposals as a result of streaming services driving up content prices to new highs. Potential purchasers have expressed interest in Legendary, Imagine, and A24 at various times, while LeBron James' SpringHill Company recently sold a minority investment to RedBird Capital Partners, Fenway Sports Group, and Nike.

Despite their exorbitant valuations, many of these businesses are fresh to the market. Westbrook is a two-year-old company with a limited library, despite the fact that it is led by two celebrities.

Staggs rose to become Disney's chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide before starting their yet-to-be-named venture. Mayer was in charge of Disney's streaming businesses, launching Disney Plus and ESPN Plus.
