Twitch streaming will be restored to the Xbox dashboard after being removed by Microsoft in 2017. Alpha and skip-ahead alpha members will be the first Xbox users to see the integration of Twitch streaming into the Xbox dashboard return.
The Twitch streaming feature is comparable to the snap interface, which debuted in 2014, and allows users to immediately begin broadcasting their gameplay in the Xbox guide's "Capture and Share" tab. Users will simply need to link their Twitch account to their Xbox console before they can press the "Go live now" button.
The new dashboard feature will also allow audio and video components for livestreaming, including a microphone and webcam toggle. Users will now be able to modify both game and microphone audio, resolution and bitrate, as well as overlay location, under "More Options."
Once your stream is live, viewers can watch it from any device that supports the streaming platform. Players who follow you on the Xbox console will receive notifications anytime you go live. Users must go to the Xbox Notifications tab inside Preferences to configure their chosen live stream settings.
Microsoft stated in the official announcement, "We've heard your comments and are delighted to bring back this fan favorite feature, re-engineered and better than ever." Though now only available to Alpha members, Microsoft aims to spread Twitch connectivity to all users via a new dashboard update.
