DEF JAM RECORDINGS APPOINTS LATRICE BURNETTE AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

LaTrice Burnette, a well-known music executive, has been named Executive Vice President, Def Jam Recordings / President, 4TH & Broadway.

4TH & Broadway was Island's independent distribution company's flagship label, focusing on hip-hop and dance music by "famous and influential" musicians including Eric B. & Rakim, Dream Warriors, Stereo MCs, Bomb the Bass, and others.

Burnette is Chair of the Programming and Curation Committee of Universal Music Group's Task Force for Meaningful Change, in addition to her leadership duties at Def Jam and 4TH & Broadway.

She oversaw groundbreaking creative and marketing initiatives for artists such as Jessie Reyez, Skip Marley, Buju Banton, Toni Braxton, Emotional Oranges, Baby Rose, and many others throughout her time at the company.

Among her numerous accomplishments there, she was instrumental in Future's record release plan, which culminated in Future becoming the first artist in the Billboard 200's 60-year history to have two distinct albums launch at No. 1 back-to-back.

DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, Yo Gotti, Bobby Shmurda, Blac Youngsta, Ciara, Diddy, and others have all hired her to manage their marketing initiatives.
Burnette, who was born in Brooklyn and attended Pace University, began her career in the music industry at Roc-A-Fella Records in 1999.

Burnette went on to work for Atlantic Records, where she oversaw digital marketing efforts for the label's entire urban roster, as well as Asylum Records (Paul Wall, Mike Jones, Gucci Mane, Bun B) and Bad Boy Records (Diddy, Yung Joc, Danity Kane, Boyz N The Hood).

"LaTrice is a proven leader, a consummate professional, and someone whose work and reputation I have long appreciated," Balogun added.
"Her razor-sharp focus and financial acumen, as well as her skill in artist development and her experienced, holistic view of both the marketplace and the industry, make her a crucial addition to the team we're assembling here and the vision for where we're going."

"I am ecstatic to join Def Jam, a famous label and brand that has been influential in music and culture for decades," Burnette said.

"I appreciate Tunji's support, and I'm looking forward to working with the executive team, employees, and fantastic artists."
