Plus Disney Late 2022 or early 2023, an ad-supported subscription tier will be introduced.
Disney has revealed plans to establish an ad-supported subscription tier for its Disney+ streaming services in late 2022, with overseas markets following suit in 2023.
Disney's efforts, according to rumors, will help the business reach its long-term objective of 230 to 260 million Disney+ customers by FY2024. According to Deadline, despite having 130 million users by the end of 2021, the streaming service's growth has slowed, and Disney+'s one-dollar price boost in 2021 was likely a "short-term obstacle to growth."
"Improved access to Disney+ to a broader audience at a lower price point is a win for everyone – consumers, advertisers, and our storytellers,” Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, said in a statement. “More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families.”
"Advertisers have been wanting to be a part of Disney+ since its launch, and not just because there's a rising demand for more streaming inventory," said Rita Ferro, President, Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution. "With our most beloved brands, Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic, Disney+ with advertising will give marketers the most premium environment in streaming." I'm looking forward to sharing additional information with marketers at the Upfront." For Pixel 2 or newer phones, Live Caption for transcribing caller voices is now accessible in English.
