Usain Bolt joins Irish esports organisation WYLDE as Co-owner

Irish esports organisation WYLDE has announced that global sports star and Olympic medalist Usain Bolt has joined as its Co-owner.

As part of the organisation, Bolt will support the organisation’s mission to identify, empower and support talent whilst adopting a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Bolt will also be involved in a variety of actions aimed at enhancing WYLDE's brand as a co-owner and active member of the leadership team.

"WYLDE is on a quest to become one of the biggest brands in the world's fastest growing sport," Usain Bolt, co-owner of WYLDE, said. It's vital to have that competitive, winning mentality in esports, just as it is in track and field.

"I'm excited to work with the WYLDE leadership team to help our players reach their full potential while also ensuring their physical and mental health."

WYLDE was formed two years ago by Steve Daly and David Cronin in Dublin, Ireland. Daly previously worked at JP Morgan as an investment banker. David Cronin was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Ireland Funds, as well as a founding stakeholder of the Irish technology firm QUMAS.

Rainbow Six Siege, VALORANT, Rocket League, and FIFA are among the games in which WYLDE has teams competing. WYLDE launched an academy in 2021 to foster gaming talent by presenting WYLDE Bootcamps across Europe, organizing community tournaments, and offering professional coaching to budding talent. WYLDE also aims to conduct a Jamaican bootcamp later in 2022 in collaboration with Bolt.

"Usain coming on board pushes WYLDE to the next level," said David Cronin, co-founder of WYLDE. His advice will be vital as we continue to construct professional structures to assist the growth of our players, thanks to his extensive competitive experience and Olympic-winning mentality."
