The second official Uncharted trailer has arrived showing an insane flying ship battle and Mark Wahlberg's Sully with a mustache. After his box office-breaking threequel Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters, Tom Holland is kicking off 2022 with a bang. Uncharted is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed and widely loved Uncharted video game series about treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Holland will play a younger version of Drake, with Wahlberg starring as his mentor and father-figure Sully.
The first Uncharted trailer showed that the movie will be adapting the earlier years of Nathan Drake's treasure hunting while incorporating some beloved action scenes from the game. The mix of the old and the new appears to be integral to the Uncharted movie as it seeks to bring in fans of the video games and new audiences unfamiliar with the franchise. In addition to Holland and Wahlberg, Uncharted also stars Antonio Banderas as the movie's villain and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina alum Tati Gabrielle.
Now, with a few short months until Uncharted's release, Sony has unveiled a new trailer for the movie. The clip features many of the action sequences already teased in the first trailer, including the one where Holland falls out of a plane over a clear blue ocean. However, the new Uncharted trailer also officially reveals Sully's famous mustache and an insane new action scene atop flying ships that are hooked up to helicopters. Check out the video below:
Having the Uncharted movie take place during Nathan Drake's youth has been a point of contention for many fans, especially those who wanted to see someone like Nathan Fillion take on the main role. Many were also concerned about Sully's lack of a mustache in the first Uncharted trailer even though set videos had previously shown Wahlberg sporting one. Now, it looks like Sony has taken notice and even included a joke about it in the latest trailer, with Holland's character ribbing Sully for the sudden appearance of a mustache on his face.
In addition to the reveal of Sully's mustache, the Uncharted trailer also shows off some incredible action. While most of the scenes had been teased before, it looks like the new movie's climactic final battle has been shown off in the latest video. The helicopters lifting old pirate ships out of the jungle, which leads to a battle aboard the ships in mid-air, is a major change to the Uncharted games, but fitting for their innovative and adventurous action. This bodes well for the upcoming movie as it will have to sell the classic franchise to newcomers while also integrating new and exciting action for those familiar with the games. Luckily, it looks like Uncharted may succeed on both fronts.
