Felipe Gomez, a spiritual guide and leader of the Mayan alliance Oxlaljuj Ajpop fight for the recovery of Mayan sacred sites for Indigenous peoples in war-torn Guatemala. Sacred sites such as man-made temples, shrines, pilgrimage roads, and other natural places are of special significance to Indigenous peoples and play an important role in their well-being. Indigenous communities in Guatemala visit these places (some on a daily basis) to communicate with ancestors, and learn and practice spirituality, philosophy, science and art.
