Naomi Campbell Strikes a Pose in the New Balmain Campaign, At the spring 2022 blockbuster show.
Designer Olivier Rousteing decided to film his ad on the spot after assembling an outstanding group of supermodels for his spring 2022 fashion show for Balmain, giving it the spontaneous, "snapshot-like aspect" that engages well on social media.
Naomi Campbell, wearing a minidress and a squishy bag balanced on her tummy, leaned back on the floor in a minidress and kicked one of her endless legs into the air for one of her shots.
Photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott employed inside and exterior sets for their debut Balmain campaign, La Seine Musicale, the Jean Nouvel-designed concert hall where the fashion and music spectacle took place, also marking Rousteing’s first decade at the French house.
The photo shoot provided an extra layer of stress to the Balmain team, according to Rousteing, but "all that extra added anxiety and effort was very much worth it."
"It's a true behind-the-scenes look at what was going on the day before the big day," Rousteing said, adding that he was looking forward to working with a "combination of legends who have inspired me since boyhood, and some of today's most spectacular emerging talents."
His bandage dresses were a therapeutic exercise following horrific burns, and his spring collection was extremely personal. Rousteing was injured in a freak fireplace explosion, which required hospitalization, months of physical therapy, and massive gold rings on every knuckle of his fingers to conceal scars while he recovered. The rings are donned by Akech and Boscono for the shoot.
