Marking his first film project in Nigeria, Josef Adamu and co-director Seyi Akinlade celebrate the creative landscape of Lagos through its martial arts community for narrative short Kimono Kid – following a young martial artist overcoming self-doubt to compete. Seeking refuge in kung fu after his father’s passing, and channeling strength through his memory, Junior’s pursuit of the practice becomes an escape from his grief and insecurities, finding determination in the philosophy and discipline learned through martial arts.
