Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond franchise, is said to be receptive to casting Idris Elba as the next Bond. With Idris Elba announcing his interest in the part a long time ago, it's just a matter of time before our fantasies become a reality.

With Daniel Craig about to leave the role, it appears like Idris Elba is becoming a stronger contender to be the next James Bond.
Broccoli told Deadline's Crew Call podcast, "We know Idris... he's a fantastic performer." Elba has "been a part of the dialogue," she added, "but it's always tough to have a conversation when there's someone else in the seat."

For years, Idris Elba has expressed interest in playing the famed secret agent. When asked in 2009 by The Guardian how he felt about the potential of portraying Bond, Elba replied, "Who wouldn't want to play Bond?" Do I believe it'll happen? No, but I think I've got what it takes. I have the ability to run around, flirt with ladies, and drink. I'm also English."

"After Barack Obama's win, I believe the time has come for a [sic] colored 007." Because the character developed by Ian Fleming in the 1950s has experienced a great lot of growth and continues to be updated, I believe the part could easily be performed by a black actor."

We can only hope and pray that the next announcement for Bond will be Idris himself, after speculations of Elba taking over the role of 007 have been going on for over a decade and Craig finally putting an end to his stint as the franchise's leading man.
