Dua Lipa Leaves Management Firm TaP Music

A source close to the issue confirmed to Variety that Dua Lipa has split ties with her longstanding management business,

Ben Mawson and Ed Millet's TaP Management. Despite reports to the contrary, the insider claims that the singer is not currently meeting with other management firms, but she will undoubtedly do so in the future. Hits was the first to break the news late Thursday.

The timing of the shift is odd because Lipa just started her "Future Nostalgia" arena tour after a nearly two-year hiatus due to the epidemic, however a source said the tour is going well. It started in Miami late last month and will stop in the New York region next week. The tour, which makes 28 stops across the U.S., including her first-ever headline show at Madison Square Garden and the Forum in Los Angeles, features support from Caroline Polachek and Lolo Zouaï, with Megan Thee Stallion joining on a handful of dates.

Nearly two years after the release of the Grammy-winning “Future Nostalgia,” Lipa appears to be fairly far along with the recording of her third studio album. Last fall she posted photos of herself in the studio (and was seen with producer Koz and songwriter Sarah Hudson); and in May, Warner U.K. label head Joe Kentish told Variety that she was “already thinking” about her third album and planning to pull off “something completely different and at scale.

"She was talking about the third record while we hadn't even finished the second!" he continued. "You half expect her to want to take a break or do things differently, but all she says is, 'Right, what's next?'" Her curiosity, knowledge, and desire to learn new things and be in charge of her own actions continue to grow. She's taking her time conceptualizing the album, but her faith in herself and her ability to pull off something radically different and on a large scale has only risen."

TaP, which was created by Mawson and Millet in 2010, now represents Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, Polachek, Noah Cyrus, and a slew of other acts, as well as a slew of producers and songwriters.  it also has a digital marketing wing, a publishing company and a label. At the time of this article’s publication, Lipa’s photo was still on TaP’s website under its management clients.
