Chelsea In Talks With Manchester City To Sign Raheem Sterling And Nathan Aké

Todd Boehly, the interim sporting director and co-owner, has clearly thrown himself into his new role, and is working the phone lines and contacts furiously to carry out the transfer plan that presumably he and Thomas Tuchel have worked out.

Chelsea is reportedly in talks with Manchester City for not one, but two potential signings, with Raheem Sterling and Nathan Aké both reportedly on the table. Both players have been linked numerous times in recent weeks, particularly Sterling, but according to the Telegraph, Boehly "contacted the Premier League champions on Monday to check on their valuation of both players, with Chelsea keen to sign both."

Unfortunately, the report makes educated guesses about what these valuations might be. Previously, City were said to be looking for around £45-55 million for Sterling, and a similar figure was mentioned for Aké earlier this month when Newcastle United were sniffing around. Not cheap, especially when Sterling doesn't appear to be filling a significant need or providing a significant upgrade in the squad, and Aké hasn't exactly been indispensable to City.
