Chimps have more complex social lives, leading to a more developed society with basic tool manufacture, ritual behavior and their own sign language which we are beginning to decipher.
Orangutans are largely solitary so they don’t have a developed culture, but I suspect that individually they may be more intelligent.
Orangutans who have been taught signing are able to make puns and understand jokes and the principle of barter.
