Fashion Sakala handed a Rangers jersey and scarf to the Zambian president as the pair met in Glasgow.

The Ibrox star, fresh from a hat-trick against Motherwell on Sunday, linked up Hakainde Hichilema during his visit to the city for the COP26 summit.

The 24-year-old signed a shirt for the president of his native country before they caught up and posed for pictures.

In a post on Instagram Hichilema revealed Sakala told him that he reminds of himself during the meeting.

The president hailed the Rangers star for his progress in Scotland, insisting he is an "ambassador for the country".

Hichilema said: "Caught up with one of our country's young and talented footballers currently playing for Scotland's Rangers F.C here in Glasgow, Fashion Sakala.

"Fashion represents the great talent in our youths who should be encouraged to continue raising the bar higher and be good ambassadors for the country.

"We have a number of our young talented sportsmen and women both at home and abroad who should be encouraged to achieve more.

"It was touching to hear that Fashion feels his life mirrors ours as he also grew up in the village, worked hard and is now on the world stage.
