5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About JJC Skillz

Here are five things you probably didn't know about Nigerian songwriter, rapper, and video director, Abdul Rasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz.

1. Birth

According to Wikipedia, Abdul Rasheed Bello was born on April 4, 1977, in Kano, Nigeria, and moved to the United Kingdom when he was fourteen years old.

2. Profession

The record and television producer developed interest in music listening to his father's country music records and juju music. He was drawn to hip-hop music in the United Kingdom and soon formed a musical group with a friend, after which they began performing at talent shows. Big Brovas records and Big Brovas collective were JJC's first major producing projects. Atide, his debut album with 419 squad, was released in 2004. Ijoya by Weird MC, Pu Yanga by Tillaman, and Morile by Buoqui are some of his production credits.

3. Stage Name

JJC, Bello's stage name, is an abbreviation for Johnny Just Come, a term used by Nigerians to describe inexperienced newcomers to the city.

4. Awards

JJC won the Nigerian entertainment award for best international artist in 2013. He created an African super group called the JJC and the 419 squad. In 2014, this group received the Kora All African Music Award.

5. Marriage

In 2016, JJC Skillz married Funke Akindele. In 2018, the couple became parents to twins. Bello had three children from three different mothers before marrying Akindele. On June 30, 2022, Skillz announced on his social media platform that he has separated from the actress. He mentioned Funke's insistence on him living out of the house. He added that the last two years were extremely difficult for them and that they are unable to resolve their disagreements but wish to co-parent in peace.
