Kalahari Desert

There’s a place in the heart of the Kalahari Desert where no roads go. We went on safari not just by land but by water, drifting through narrow channels, past hippos and fish eagles, into a wilderness that felt completely untouched and strangely contradictory. Some days started on dusty tracks, chasing fresh paw prints in the sand. Other times, we sailed between reed beds while elephants crossed right in front of our boat. The northern Okavango Delta is a hidden oasis in the middle of the desert, and for a few days, it felt like we had it to ourselves.
