Rihanna has opened up about her return to music, confirming that a new album from her will not arrive any time soon despite her upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, she clarified that new music and her Super Bowl performance are completely separate entities. “That’s not true,” Rih said of the rumors that a new album will drop after her Halftime Show, adding with a laugh, “Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?” She continued, “The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work.’”
Even though she dashed the hopes of fans, Rihanna confirmed that she has new music and a “special project” on the way. “We’ll see, we’ll see. Unrelated, unrelated,” she said, “but a special project.” The artist and businesswoman also briefly opened up about her decision to do the Super Bowl Halftime Show now that she’s a mother. “If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special,” she explained. “It was now or never for me.” Watch the interview above.
