Quavo will be honoring his late nephew and fellow Migos Takeoff with a performance at the upcoming 65th annual Grammy Awards. Early last month, the rapper shared his tribute track “Without You,” remembering Takeoff and mourning his tragic death. The song, produced by Vory, debuted alongside a somber black-and-white music video. “Tears rolling down my eyes / Can’t tell you how many times I cried,” Quavo sings.
“Days ain’t the same without you / I don’t know if I’m the same without you.” He’ll perform a rendition alongside the Maverick City Music choir at the momentous event, which is slated to take place this Sunday, February 5, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
The news of Quavo’s performance was announced by The Recording Academy as part of their In Memoriam segment, paying homage to artists that have passed away over the past year. Takeoff, whose real name is Kirsnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed at a bowling alley in Houston on November 1. The following month, a man named Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested as a suspect in the murder case. Clark has since been released on bail and is set to appear in court in March.
