If you didn't get enough Donda the first time around when Ye (previously known as Kanye West) released the 26-track album named after his late mother, keep your eyes peeled for more Donda. Former G.O.O.D. Music COO/current Universal Music Group senior vp of A&R and founder/CEO of Victor Victor Worldwide Steven Victor reportedly told Complex that Ye had already began working on the gold-certified album's sequel.
As of press time, West's spokesperson had not responded to Billboard's request for comment on the accusation, and Donda 2 does not appear to have a release date. Despite having a vast list of unreleased projects to go along with his 10 official studio albums, the rapper has not publicly explored what would be his first sequel album.
Donda was finally published on August 29, 2021, after a series of sold-out stadium listening events in which West performed the still-in-progress collection, whose track and guest list continued to change before and after its release. The original Donda featured Jay-Z, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, as well as controversial contributions from Marilyn Manson and DaBaby.
While no confirmed guests for the new album have been announced, a video released last week showed West pounding away at a keyboard in a studio with frequent collaborator and solo artist Scarface bobbing his head in the background, dressed in grey trousers and a matching sweatshirt with one black glove.
