James Moses Black Joins Universal’s ‘Renfield’; 20th’s ‘Darby Harper Wants You To Know’ Adds Genneya

James Moses Black (Queenpins, Lansky) has joined the cast of Renfield, the Universal monster film directed by Chris McKay.

He joins the previously confirmed cast of Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Bess Rouss.

The film is based on an original plot plan by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible) and revolves around Renfield (Hoult), who has grown disillusioned of spending years as Dracula's (Cage) lackey. When he falls for spunky, perpetually angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy, the henchman finds a new lease on life and perhaps even atonement (Awkwafina).

The script was written by Ryan Ridley (Ghosted, Rick and Morty). McKay is producing the picture, which is being shot in New Orleans with the help of Skybound Entertainment's production crew, which includes Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst. Samantha Nisenboim, his producing partner, serves as executive producer.
Black recently appeared in Vertical Entertainment's Lansky, starring Harvey Keitel, Screen Gems' Black and Blue, starring Naomie Harris and Frank Grillo, and STX Entertainment's Queenpins, starring Kristen Bell and Vince Vaughn, as well as the indie film Blackline: The Beirut Contract. He also appeared in Amazon's S.O.Z.: Soldados o Zombies and YouTube Premium's Liza on Demand, both of which he co-starred with Liza Koshy.
Michael McConnell of Zero Gravity Management and Fiona Turner of LTA represent Black.
