During an official visit hosted by Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, president of the Dominican Republic, executive chairman Adam Stewart, CEO Gebhard Rainier, and other Sandals executives recently toured important tourist areas in the D.R.
"We know we've discovered a like-minded partner when top-level leadership makes time to discuss the power of tourism and investment prospects that increase its reach," Stewart added. "This was a terrific visit at a time when we are vigorously pursuing our expansion aspirations. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead."
Angie Martinez, the Dominican Republic's ambassador to Jamaica, said, "Having the Sandals brand present here is a dream of ours." The visit has been a great honor for us, and excited by the possibility of our island nation becoming the first Spanish Caribbean territory to welcome the Sandals organization."
The Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau reopened on Jan. 27, the Sandals Royal Curacao will open on June 1, three new resorts in Jamaica are planned, and a Beaches resort in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will open in 2023.
