TIFFANY HADDISH SUPPORTS WILL SMITH DEFENDING JADA PINKETT AT THE OSCARS

Tiffany Haddish has spoken out in favour of Will Smith's smacking of Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards after the latter made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's alopecia.

"When I watched a Black man stand up for his wife," Haddish, who co-starred with Pinkett Smith in the film Girls Trip, remarked in an interview. That meant a great deal to me. 'Keep my wife's name out of your mouth, leave my wife alone,' is what your husband is meant to do, right? As a woman who has been unprotected, isn't it what your husband is supposed to do? Take care of yourself. And that meant everything to me.

"And maybe the world doesn't like how it went down," she said, "but for me, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed because it made me feel that there are still men out there that love and care about their wives."

"And that's their friend, as a friend, why would you do that?" Haddish says, adding, "And that's their friend, as a friend, why would you do that?" He didn't even tell her about the prank, but she was hurt. He probably wouldn't have said anything if she hadn't been harmed.

Smith, on the other hand, delivered a tearful apology to the Academy after he won Best Actor for his portrayal in King Richard, but he made no mention of Rock. In a statement, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stated that they do not "condone violence in any form."
