'The Gray Man': Sequel on Netflix With Ryan Goosling

Netflix Spy Thriller Grayman has his own universe on Netflix. Original films produced with the potential of the franchise in mind include sequels and spin-off films.

The sequel will be directed by Ryan Gosling and directors Joe and Anthony Russo (no stranger in the film world), and will be written by Gray Man co-author Stephen McFeely. Russos and Mike Lalocca will work with Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum of the Roth Kirschenbaum Films through the AGBO banner.

When it comes to spin-offs, the details of the plot are obscured, but Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are behind the script.

The Gray Man, premiered on the Netflix streaming service on July 22, after a limited theatrical release from July 15, is based on Mark Greaney's best-selling book series. The film was requested by a high-ranking government official to star Gosling as a secret agent Six tracked by a socially ill mercenary played by Chris Evans, hoping to cover up his own misconduct.

Among the critics, the Gray Man, who has a 48% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, THR's review calls it "an excessive spy story partially redeemed by that lead." However, the viewer was more receptive. The thriller Rotten Tomatoes was rated 91%, and according to Streamer, Gray Man made his debut as the # 1 movie in 92 countries, with 88.55 million hours of viewing time on the first weekend. According to the company's internal rankings, this is the best Netflix movie debut since the Adam Project recorded 92.4 million hours in March.

The AGBO is also behind another Netflix franchise. In 2020, Chris Hemsworth, who starred in Extraction, will get a sequel. It will be released in 2023 and will announce a sequel starring Ryan, "said Russos, who works with the Electric State Streamer.

Scott Stuber, Head of Global Films, said: We look forward to continuing to work with them and the AGBO team as they build the Gray Man world."
