The swallowing of swords is always displayed alongside some magic tricks and this has made people think that the act in itself is a magic trick.
So, how is this possible?
The Sword Swallowers Association International (SSAI) defines a sword swallower as a person who can swallow a 15-inch (40-centimeter) sword, which wouldn't necessarily enter the stomach.
The length of the digestive tract from the incisor to the point where the esophagus joins the stomach is about 40 cm in length.
The act of sword-swallowing takes time to learn, but basically hyperextension of the neck helps to align the upper gastrointestinal tract so that a blunt sword can slide in.
