Car Thing is an in-car listening and playing device with a dial for browsing, selecting, playing, and pausing material, a 4′′ touchscreen, and four preset buttons for shortcuts.
Listeners can use 'Hey Spotify' voice commands, taps, turns, and swipes on the touchscreen, and scrolling with the built-in dial to play music and podcasts.
The Car Thing, according to Spotify, promises a "more seamless" and "tailored" in-car listening experience, letting users to access Spotify's entire repertoire of music and podcasts across a variety of automobiles.
Car Thing is currently only available to Spotify Premium subscribers.
However, in the near future, its software will be changed, allowing third-party services such as Audible to be accessible on the gadget, according to CNET.
The Car Thing was released in Beta last year, and more than 2 million people joined up for its waiting list upon its release.
The device was expected to cost $79.99 at the time of the beta launch.
The test debut occurred two years after first reports suggested that the streaming corporation was working on an in-car music player with tech firm Flex.
Spotify first confirmed in May 2019 that it was testing a voice-controlled in-car music device with a small sample of Spotify Premium subscribers.
"We developed Car Thing because we realized that our users desired a more seamless and personalized in-car listening experience, regardless of the year or brand of their vehicle," Spotify said in a blog post announcing the revelation.
"With Car Thing, even more audio aficionados will be able to listen to Spotify's entire repertoire of music and podcasts across a broader range of automobiles.
