Skepta x MAINS | Who We Be Takeover

Boy Better Know rapper, Skepta, has just announced that his very own fashion entity, MAINS London, will be debuting its new collection at London Fashion Week. Skepta has been one of the UK’s main figureheads in flying the flag for British culture for over a decade now. As one of the pioneers of grime music — with his Lord of the Mics clash with Devilman being a key moment in the genre’s rise — his music has taken him far and wide; from international collaborations with the likes of Wiz Kid and A$AP Rocky to hosting his very own art installations with Sotheby’s. Skep has also made his mark on the fashion industry, having been close friends with the late Virgil Abloh before his Big Smoke Corporation signed a partnership with PUMA. Now, Skep’s passion project — his MAINS London imprint — is picking things up from where they left off, following the brand’s viral moment in 2018 when Skepta and Naomi Campbell were captured in matching MAINS underwear. Of course, since then, many teasers have been presented of new MAINS material, including Skepta himself being spotted in new designs at Wimbledon and Silverstone in the past week — but fans were unaware that the subtle pointers were leading up to this: the imprint’s reawakening at LFW. Speaking with Vogue Business, Skepta said his forthcoming unveiling in London will comprise “staple, crazy, beautiful, wearable clothes,” with the new collection being designed by Skepta himself, in collaboration with MAINS’ new chief designer Mikey Pearce along with graphic designs from Johnson Orchid. Additionally, Skepta said in his recent interview:

“I’m lucky enough to be able to bounce ideas with them [Pearce and Orchid] and together, we’ve been making a flood of pure magic.” The presentation of MAINS London’s upcoming collection will take place at London Fashion Week at 8 p.m. GMT on September 16 at a venue that is yet to be announced.
