Queen Elizabeth IIs recent hospitalization has made Prince Harry more resolute to return to the U.K. to visit her with wife Meghan Markle, their two-year-old son Archie, and their four-month-old daughter Lilibet before or at the holidays, Us Weekly reports. The Queen, for context, is back at work after being hospitalized one night last week. Buckingham Palace announced on its Instagram that “Her Majesty The Queen [on Tuesday] conducted two virtual audiences via videolink from Windsor Castle.”
An insider told Us that California-based Harry “would never forgive himself if the same thing happened with his beloved grandmother. [He is] hoping to go back home for Christmas with Meghan, if not before so that she can finally get to meet [her great granddaughter] Lilibet and see [great grandson] Archie again.”
Harry and Meghan spoke openly about their close relationship with Elizabeth during their March Oprah interview.
Meghan said the Queen “has always been wonderful to me. I mean, we had one of our first joint engagements together. She asked me to join her, and I went on the train. And we had breakfast together that morning and she gave me a beautiful gift and I just really loved being in her company, and I know we were in the car—yeah, she gave me some beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace—and we were in the car going between engagements. And she has a blanket that sits across her, her knees, for warmth and it was chilly and she was like, Meghan, come on, and put it over my knees as well.”
Harry also said that hes very close with the Queen. “Ive spoken more to my grandmother in the last year than I have [in] many, many years,” he said. “My grandmother and I have a really good relationship and understanding, and I have deep respect for her.”
