PDP faults Buhari’s anti-graft fight as Adamu takes oath of office

"The new APC chairman should explain to Nigerians why he was not brave enough to stand trial at the Federal High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, rather than hiding behind technicalities," it continued. Senator Adamu should, as a result, come clean to Nigerians about the aforementioned situation before claiming to be a saint."

Meanwhile, Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated the party's freshly elected national executives.
He also praised the national caretaker committee, led by Yobe State Governor Mai Malla Buni, for successfully organizing a convention aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2023 general election.

Fayemi stated yesterday in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, that despite initial concerns and diverse interests and viewpoints among members, the convention was a success.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State also thanked Adamu, expressing gratitude for the NWC members' success. Uzodimma described their emergence as a call to serve Africa's largest party in a statement released yesterday.

The message is as follows: “On behalf of the government and good people of Imo State, I most heartily congratulate Senator Abdullahi Adamu on his emergence as the national chairman. In like manner, I congratulate other elected members of the NWC, who have been called to serve in further strengthening of the largest political party in Africa and in the transformation of our nation, Nigeria.

“The peaceful and successful conduct of the exercise is a product of the unity and internal democracy flourishing in the party. I, therefore, compliment every member of our great party (the delegates, observers and others who couldn’t make it to Abuja), for the level of maturity exhibited and the brewed zeal in delivering much more than democratic dividends to Nigerians.”

This comes as Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced his intention to resign from the race for National Deputy Chairman (North) due to his respect for Buhari and the party's unity.

In a letter to the party's election sub-committee titled "Notification Of My Decision To Withdraw From The Race For National Deputy Chairman (North)," Dogara said: "In light of President Muhammadu Buhari's directives to adopt consensus in filling party positions at the convention, and as one of those who are comfortably disposed to Mr. President's political philosophy, I unequivocally express my support for consensus and also my endorsement of Seyi Lawal."

He urged for an end to squabbling over party positions, stating, "If APC wants to recruit new members, it needs to be united, because no one wants to board a boat full of warring sailors."

Senator Iyiola Christopher Omisore was also congratulated by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State on his election as National Secretary.

Oyetola, who spoke to media shortly after the senator's victory was announced, compared Omisore to a round peg in a round hole, expressing confidence in the Ife-born politician's ability to deliver and contribute to the party's progress.
