Oscars 2022 Winners List: CODA, Dune, & More

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the winners of the 2022 Oscars, capping off a long awards season. Last year's year-in-cinema celebration was strange to say the least, and while the 2022 ceremony restored some of the normalcy (such as reintroducing hosts), it still marked the end of an exceptional year for movies. For example, streaming services were the home of some of the biggest frontrunners heading into Sunday night's Oscars, such as Netflix's The Power of the Dog and Apple TV+'s CODA.

For this year's Oscars, Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes were chosen as hosts. The film with the most nominations was The Power of the Dog, which received a total of 12 nominations. In the absence of huge blockbusters like Spider-Man: No Way Home and No Time to Die receiving best picture nominations, the Academy launched the Oscars' first fan-voted Twitter award, which has sparked a lot of excitement in recent weeks. Finally, it was awarded to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead. Nonetheless, the choice to exclude important technical prizes from the broadcast sparked debate. In the middle of the ceremony, Will Smith, the eventual best actor winner, made headlines.

The Oscars for 2022 have been announced, and CODA was named best picture winner for the year. Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic Dune took home the most awards, with six.
