MTV - The Flipper’s of today speaks to the current landscape and cultural impact of roller skating, with a ‘this is not your grandma’s roller-disco’ attitude. The focus on authentic engagement with skaters is brought to life in Flipper’s Skate Heist video, a thrilling short film, directed by Ben Dean. The film is a visual representation of modern-day skating, ripping away from the Hollywood stigma of disco balls and bellbottoms, featuring two songs. The first is Power (Remember who you are) by SPINALL, Summer Walker, DJ Snake and Äyanna. The second song by the luminary Jamie XX is named Kill Dem - recently debuted at Notting Hill Carnival and inspired by the London roller skating style and the Amapiano sound that is the heartbeat of the community. Heist takes viewers on a gripping journey through urban landscapes, ending up at Flipper’s London and features the skaters in masks, some based on Ian ‘Flipper’ Ross' face.
