According to local media, a new virus derived from animals has been found in China and has infected 35 people so far in the provinces of Shandong and Henan.

According to a New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) report, the Langya Henipavirus, also called "Langya" or "LayV," is "known to infect humans and induce deadly sickness."

Of the 35 infected persons, 26 experienced these flu-like symptoms, which include a fever, exhaustion, muscle discomfort, loss of appetite, a cough, nausea, vomiting, and headaches.

One of the significant increasing sources of zoonosis in the Asia-Pacific region, according to reports, is henipavirus.

Fruit bats serve as the natural hosts for both the Hendra virus (HeV) and the Nipah virus (NiV), both of which are known to infect humans.
