British equine sculptor Charlie Langton

Living and working close to nature from his studio in Wiltshire, British equine sculptor Charlie Langton has shaped his practice around a singular focus, capturing the power, majesty, and athletic form of the horse. Engaging with horses from childhood, and spending time on stud farms as part of the research process, Langton honed his craft by deepening the connection to his subject, developing an instinctive understanding of their characteristics. Turning his commitment into an artistic obsession, Langton has found a constant inspiration that evolves as large-scale bronze sculptures – animated by closely observing horses through their behaviors and movements. Documenting Langton at his studio, director Aisha Schliessler explores the sculptor’s journey and the profound respect he holds for his subject in the short film A Great Love. Finding solace in his work, Langton molds his artistry through the awe found in nature, illustrating the life and strength of another sentient being in a career-spanning pursuit of beauty
