Abbott Elementary School has announced plans to hold free book fairs for pupils from low-income families. This spring, the efforts will offer new reads to children around the country in collaboration with Scholastic Books. According to Variety, between March 14 and 18, the program will take place at seven Title 1 schools, with each kid receiving two free books and each instructor receiving ten.
According to the site, Erin Weir, senior vice president of marketing for ABC & General Entertainment, said, "Abbott Elementary sheds light on and represents the hardships and challenges encountered by our country's educators." "In our series marketing efforts, we had an incredible opportunity and obligation to highlight that message." Giving back to this deserving community has been a cornerstone of our campaign since the beginning, and thanks to a number of incredible partnerships, including our collaboration with Scholastic, we've had the great fortune of honoring teachers through supply donations, grassroots activations, and more, all while spreading the word about our hilarious new comedy.
Harrity Elementary in Philadelphia, founded by designer Quinta Brunson, is the first school to be featured. Schools selected for the program include Diehl Elementary in Erie, Pa., Bond Elementary in Chicago, Dayton's Bluff Elementary in Minneapolis, Freeman Elementary in Flint, Mich., and Cortada Elementary and Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary in Los Angeles.
ABC also announced the continuation of its Traveling Teacher's Lounge initiative, which gives Scholastic books, school supplies, and breakfast to teachers on the road. Teachers will be given Abbott Elementary branded merchandise as part of the relaunch.
More than 1,000 books, 10,000 notebooks, 100,000 writing utensils, and 15,000 art and craft items were contributed during the first round of the lounge, which began on Jan. 3 and visited schools in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. Dallas will be visited on March 10, Houston on March 11, Santa Fe, New Mexico on March 15, Phoenix on March 16, Reno, Nevada on March 18, and Los Angeles on March 22.
Abbott Elementary has had a meteoric rise in popularity and ratings since its premiere. Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Jacob Hill, Janelle James, and Tyler James Williams star in the 30-minute comedy, which has received good ratings on ABC. After seven days of multiplatform viewing, the series' total-viewer average nearly doubled to 5.9 million viewers from 3.1 million.
