There are many things that happen off-screen that many moviegoers are unaware of. Here are ten of the most bizarre facts about famous movies:
1. The Terminator
Arnold Schwarzenegger went into a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles for lunch one afternoon during a break in filming and realized all too late that he was still in Terminator makeup - with a missing eye, exposed jawbone, and burned flesh.
2. The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring
The cast was frequently required to fly to remote shooting locations by helicopter. Boromir (Sean Bean) was terrified of flying and would only do so when absolutely necessary. He'd spend two hours every morning climbing from the base of the mountain to the set near the top, already dressed as Boromir, when they were filming the scenes of the Fellowship crossing the snowy mountains. From their helicopters, the crew being flown up could see him.
3. Titanic
After learning that she would have to be naked in front of Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet decided to break the ice by flashing him when they first met.
4. The Dark Knight
Heath Ledger spent six weeks in a motel room preparing for his role as The Joker. During this extended period of seclusion, Ledger delved deeply into the character's psychology. He devoted himself to perfecting The Joker's every tics, particularly his voice and that sadistic-sounding laugh.
5. Matrix
Woo-Ping Yuen, a Kung Fu choreographer, initially refused to work on the film, hoping that by demanding an exorbitant fee, he would turn off the Wachowskis. It didn't work. He then made what he thought was an impossible request. He stated that he would only agree if he had complete control over the fights and that he trained the actors for four months prior to filming. His request was granted by the Wachowskis.
6. Guardians Of The Galaxy
Chris Pratt allegedly stole his Star-Lord costume from the set so that he could show up in costume to visit sick children in the hospital who might want to meet Star-Lord.
7. John Wick: Chapter 2
Keanu Reeves performed nearly all of the fight scenes himself. Keanu trained for three months to prepare for the role. Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, marksmanship, and driving were all part of his training.
8. Pretty Woman
Edward (Richard Gere) improvised snapping the necklace case down on Vivian's (Julia Roberts) fingers, and Roberts' reaction (laughter) was completely natural. The filmmakers liked it so much that they decided to keep it.
9. Man Of Steel
Henry Cavill refused to use steroids in order to bulk up for the role. In his shirtless scenes, he also refused any digital touch-ups or enhancements to his body. He stated that it would have been dishonest of him to use deception while playing Superman, and that he wanted to push his body to its limits in order to develop a physique worthy of the character.
10. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
