Trevor Noah To Host Grammy Awards for Third Consecutive Year in 2023

Trevor Noah will return to host the 2023 Grammy Awards, according to Billboard. This year’s ceremony will mark Noah’s third consecutive year in the hosting position, after making his debut in 2021 and coming back earlier this year.

Earlier this month, Noah stepped down as the host of The Daily Show, following a seven-year stint at Comedy Central. In his post-Daily Show era, the stand-up comedian is preparing to embark on his Off the Record global tour, which begins in January. Elsewhere, Noah’s Zero Day Productions presently hosts a slate of more than 30 projects in development. Noah’s third-time hosting gig is a big feat. In the last 30 years, only one other person has hosted the Grammys at least three consecutive times: LL Cool J. “I don’t think it’s normal to host it once, so I don’t have a great frame of reference for this,” Noah told Billboard. ”It is thrilling. For me, it’s a cheat code because I’m a fan of almost all the people who are there.”

“It has also been interesting because of the journey,” he added. “The first one was [during] COVID-19, and it was a completely different way to make the show. And then the next one was in Las Vegas because of the restrictions [in Los Angeles], and that was a different type of show. Now it’s exciting [because] it’ll be the first one for me back in L.A. — that’s hopefully not just normal, but different for the right reasons.”

There’s much to be excited about at this year’s Grammys. Among the nominees, Beyoncé leads the way with nine nods, including nominations for album of the year, a record of the year, and song of the year. Kendrick Lamar, who’s also up for record and song of the year, trails closely behind with eight total nods, and Adele and Brandi Carlile each nabbed seven nominations. Notably, the 2023 Grammys will be the first time Beyoncé and Adele have gone head-to-head for record, album, and song of the year since 2017.

The 2023 Grammy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 5, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. See the full list of nominees on the Grammys’ website.
