Tadej Pogačar ATTACKED With 80km To Go

STRADE BIANCHE - In a performance that redefined the limits of long-range racing, World Champion Tadej Pogačar secured a record-breaking fourth Strade Bianche title with a staggering 80-kilometer solo attack. The UAE Team Emirates leader dismantled the elite field on the white roads of Tuscany, finishing over a minute clear of his nearest rival to cement his status as the all-time record holder of the Italian Classic.

The race turned decisive on the Monte Sante Marie sector, where UAE Team Emirates applied relentless pressure to thin the peloton. Seizing the moment, Pogačar launched an explosive acceleration that left the world’s best riders grasping for answers. While 19-year-old French sensation Paul Seixas initially showed remarkable grit by bridging the gap to the Slovenian’s wheel, the effort proved unsustainable. Pogačar’s secondary acceleration quickly distanced the teenager, beginning a lonely, dominant procession toward Siena.

The pursuit was further fractured by misfortune for other key contenders. Former winner Tom Pidcock saw his chances of following the initial move vanish due to a mechanical failure on the gravel, forcing him into a grueling chase just to remain in podium contention. Meanwhile, behind the lone leader, a tactical battle for the remaining podium spots emerged. Seixas, showing maturity beyond his years, managed to recover from his earlier effort and eventually dropped Pogačar’s teammate, Isaac Del Toro, in the final kilometers.

Pogačar’s arrival in the Piazza del Campo was a celebration of pure cycling theater. After a final ascent of the punishing Via Santa Caterina, the Slovenian crossed the finish line in total isolation, marking his victory with a playful cyclocross-style bow to the crowd. With this win, Pogačar surpasses the legendary Fabian Cancellara’s record, signaling a flawless start to his 2026 campaign and reinforcing his role as the sport's most formidable "Merckx-ian" force.
