Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta could be linked with Inter Miami after the Spanish midfielder confirmed he is leaving Japan's Vissel Kobe this week. Iniesta has spent the last five years in the J.League but ended his time at Vissel Kobe after they drew 1-1 with Consadole Sapporo last Saturday. While they are competing, Iniesta has been struggling with injuries for the past 12 months which led to his decision to leave. According to Catalan radio station RAC1, the next step could be for him to join Inter Miami and link up with Lionel Messi and former Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino. Iniesta and Messi spent almost 15 years together at Camp Nou in one of the club's greatest-ever teams, winning several La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies, and many more.
The report suggests that MLS have already offered the 39-year-old a contract, although they are facing competition from Saudi Arabia for his services. David Beckham's team, Inter Miami, is also said to be considering signing Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba, who all started in Barcelona's 2015 Champions League final against Juventus. All three are at the end of their contracts and are looking for their next club. Messi shocked the world when he announced that he would leave PSG for Inter Miami at the beginning of June, and the Florida team could set up a star-studded list if any of the aforementioned deals are completed.
"The last few months have been a really tough period both for me and those close to me," Iniesta told Vissel Kobe fans at the club's Misaki Park Stadium. "I have the desire to retire and close my career while playing on the pitch, and I'm taking my next step in accordance with that emotion."
