PSG 5-2 Chelsea

PARIS – Paris Saint-Germain took a massive step toward the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night, dismantling Chelsea 5-2 in a thrilling first-leg encounter at the Parc des Princes. While the London side showed resilience to equalise twice, a late defensive collapse allowed the defending European champions to pull away and establish a commanding three-goal cushion ahead of the return leg.

The contest ignited early when Bradley Barcola found the net in the 10th minute, though Chelsea responded through Malo Gusto at the half-hour mark. PSG regained the lead just before the break via Ousmane Dembélé, only for Enzo Fernández to level the scoring again ten minutes into the second half. The game turned for good in the 74th minute when a costly error by Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen gifted Vitinha the opportunity to make it 3-2. From there, substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia took center stage, scoring a stunning strike in the 86th minute before adding a second in stoppage time to punish a tiring Chelsea defense. The result leaves Chelsea facing a monumental task at Stamford Bridge on March 17, as they must now overturn a three-goal deficit against a PSG side that looks increasingly favorites to retain their crown.
