Canada and Nigeria kicked off their first game within Group B of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Canada and Nigeria didn't exchange much changes in the first half, with the best chance coming from Christine Sinclair in the 8th minute, but it went wide. Canada and Nigeria went into halftime tied at 0-0. Early into the second half, Christine Sinclair had an excellent chance to give Canada a 1-0 lead through a penalty kick, but Chiamaka Nnadozie made a huge save to keep the game level. With both teams still looking to find that opening goal, it was the team continued stout defensive performance from both sides which restulted in a 0-0 draw.
