Miami is a unique city in the United States in that it has a distinctive Latin American and Caribbean flair due to where a lot of Miamians hail from originally. Miami is a city in America where so many different groups of people have come to build a life by the sea! From Miami’s little known origin story as a riverside community inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Miccosukee tribe, to the early migrations of Bahamians and Cubans migration in the 1900s, Miami is a city built and continuously shaped by people from other places. In this episode, I explore the city beyond the tourist areas of Miami Beach venturing into Miami's inner cities including the Everglades, Liberty City, Little Havana, Wynwood and Doral to meet the some of the people that call Miami home. At the end of my trip I'm left wondering whether Miami represents the "American Dream," what do you think?
