Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United's Portuguese midfielder, is hopeful of extending his contract at Old Trafford.
The club and Fernandes have been in talks since the beginning of the year, but United sources have maintained that they are calm about the issue, that there is "no rush and no alarm," and that they hope to reach an agreement.
United has stated that the two sides had had "constructive discussions." There is a strong likelihood that Fernandes will stay at the club.
The player himself is very pleased at Old Trafford, and both parties acknowledge that this is all part of the routine bargaining process.
In any case, Fernandes' contract is set to expire in 2025, with the club having the option to extend it for another year.
Fernandes signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, with an estimated weekly income of £100,000 per week.
He has been one of United's most effective players since then, scoring 35 goals and assisting 25 times in 78 Premier League appearances.
Since his debut in February 2020, he has also generated the most opportunities (201) of any player in the Premier League.
He was named Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons at Manchester United.
