Jamie Foxx Speaks Out About Medical Scare for First Time in New Video

Jamie Foxx opens up about his health scare in the first candid video.  The Oscar-winning actor, 55, shared a video on Instagram early Saturday morning, thanking fans for their prayers for his recovery from a health crisis that occurred on April 11 while he was in Atlanta filming Back in Action. "I can't begin to tell you how far this has taken me and how this has brought me back," he said of his fans' support. "I got something I thought I would never get through.''   Foxx said he knows "a lot of people" are waiting for an update on his condition, but "to be honest with you, I don't want you to see me like that."   "I want you to see me laughing, having fun, partying, playing games, doing movies [or] TV shows," he said. "I don't want you to see me on the hits that I missed and try to figure out if I'm going to make it."   The actress said her sister Deidra Dixon and her daughter Corinne "saved my life", and thanked God and the "good doctors" who treated her. "I can't tell you how good it is to see your family come this way - but you all know they marked it, they didn't leave anything behind. They protected me," he said, "and that's what I hope everyone can have in these times."

It also took some time to dispel rumors about his health. "Now, you know, silence sometimes makes things disappear. People say what I have, some people say I'm blind, but as you see... eyes work well. I said I was paralyzed - I'm not paralyzed."   "But I passed... "I've been to hell and back," Foxx said, "and my road to recovery has holes. But I'm coming home. I can work."   Feeling emotional, Foxx said she was grateful for "all the love I got" through the whole situation. "I know they're talking about people crying in the video," he said, "you can do two things; I'm not going to do two things. That's what it is. If you see me leaving from now on and every once in a while I break down in tears, it's because it's been hard, man. I've been sick, man. And now I have my legs under me, so you can see me.   "But as I said, I want you to remember me for the jokes I make, the movies I make - some good, some not (I think I delivered well), and the songs I sing... I am in the world thanks to a great man. I am on earth for the sake of the human God."    He ended the video by saying, "I'm back." Foxx first closed his mouth with a post on his Instagram on May 3 telling fans, "Thank you for all the love!!! I'm so happy."    When Corinne, 29, first announced the medical emergency on April 12, she explained that "thanks to the quick response and great care," Foxx was "on the road to recovery" at the time. A month later, Corinne gave another update on Foxx's condition, denying reports that the family had prepared for the worst. He shared on Instagram that the actor has been out of the hospital for several weeks. " Family Update: Sad to see the campaign go so well. My father has left hospitals for weeks, and shots:  "he wrote. Indeed, he playing Puckleball yesterday!  "

"I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back," he said of his fans' support. "I went through something I thought I would never ever go through." Foxx said he knows "a lot of people" were "waiting" for updates about his condition, but "to be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me like that." "I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie [or] television show," he said. "I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through." "I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way — and y'all know they kept it airtight, they didn't let nothin' out. They protected me," he said. "And that's what I hope everyone could have in the moments like these."

"But I did go through... I went to hell and back," said Foxx. "And my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I'm coming back. And I'm able to work." Getting emotional, Foxx said he appreciates "all the love that I got" throughout the situation. "I know they talk about people crying on videos," he said, "you can do a take two; I'm not gonna do a take two. It is what it is. If you see me out from now on and every once and a while I just burst into tears, it's because it's been tough, man. I've been sick, man. But now, I've got my legs under me, so you're gonna see me out." "But like I said, I just want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack, the movies that I make — some of them good, some of them ain't (I think I've got a good one out), and songs that I sing. ... I'm here on earth because of some great people. I'm here on earth because of God, man." He ended the video by saying, "I'm on my way back."
