I Saved 1,000 Animals From Dying

Global wildlife and companion animal welfare received a massive boost through a project that successfully saved the lives of 1,000 animals around the world, encompassing dramatic surgeries, war-zone evacuations, and large-scale relocations. MrBeast chronicled this comprehensive effort, detailing how his team intervened to protect animals threatened by conflict, injury, disease, and overcrowded shelters.

The mission began with MrBeast and his team assisting Doctor Alex in performing a life-saving root canal on a lion with a severe tooth infection. This infection, if left untreated, would have been fatal, potentially traveling to the lion's heart valves. Following the successful procedure, the now "happy and healthy" lion was released, marking the first animal saved toward the 1,000-animal goal.

The team’s next endeavor involved relocating rhinos within a massive reservation, an action needed because anti-poaching fences prevented weaker rhinos from escaping stronger, dominant ones, causing them to "kill each other" over essential resources like food and water. MrBeast's team used a helicopter to locate the rhinos, and his friend Chandler tranquilized one with a tranquilizer gun shot from the sky. The rhinos were then safely transported to a private plot of land where they could grow "big and strong" without being bullied. To protect the animals long-term, they were fitted with anti-poaching collars that track their speed and proximity to nearby wildlife, alerting rescuers if they suspect poachers are trying to kill the animal. Furthermore, a microchip was inserted into a tiny hole in the rhino’s horn and sealed with glue, allowing authorities to trace horns to the black market if the rhino is illegally killed. This effort, which involved saving three rhinos (including "Hippo the Rhino"), was described by MrBeast as potentially adding "a lot of years to this rhino's life".
The team then utilized high-powered air rifles fired from a helicopter to administer life-saving vaccines to 70 giraffes across their extensive territory. This aerial tactic was necessary because if a giraffe contracts one of the common diseases, its odds of dying are "100%".

MrBeast’s efforts spanned continents, traveling from South Africa to Ukraine to rescue three lions surviving in makeshift shelters following years of war that destroyed the zoos. The team, using a giant cargo plane and the assistance of wildlife conservationist Anthony Peniston, flew the lions over 7,000 miles to the Lion Watch sanctuary in South Africa. The lions were released to roam free across 14 acres of open land, safe from the dangers of war.

Recognizing the widespread crisis in companion animal shelters, the project made saving 100 dogs a priority, noting that in overcrowded facilities, a dog is killed every five minutes if it goes too long without finding a home. The team worked to get these dogs adopted immediately, covering all adoption fees and medical bills so families could take home their new pets for $0. Special focus was given to older dogs, like 10-year-old Blue, who are less likely to be adopted than puppies. The project also extended to saving miniature horses that were slated to be killed for food at an auction, with MrBeast purchasing all of them to find them loving homes. Four donkeys were also saved and kept together.

At Maya’s Animal Sanctuary, MrBeast partnered with Lowe’s to build a dedicated sanctuary for Stompy the Emu, who previously lived dangerously close to horses that could accidentally "stomp on" him. The new enclosure was made large enough for two emus, and Stompy was introduced to his new girlfriend, whom the team named Nolan’s Mom. MrBeast also provided a $50,000 donation to help Maya bring her planned wolf sanctuary to life. He also personally covered the expenses for two sea lions: Rocky, who requires surgery to remove a bullet in his head, and Gertrude, who was successfully released back into the ocean after almost dying from being entangled in a net.

In the "rapid fire" phase, the team worked with Minga Lodge & Sanctuary to release over 200 animals back into the Amazon rainforest, including a rare Silky Anteater. Back in the US, MrBeast funded the care of hundreds more animals at various organizations. This included funding for 47 injured and abandoned animals at Wildlife Critters Circle of Life, such as Draco, a black wolf who was shot in Louisiana, and 20 foxes saved from being turned into fur coats. Specialized medical treatments were covered, including a prosthetic beak for a duck named Marjorie who lost her own to a snapping turtle. Additionally, MrBeast helped four other organizations across the country pay for the cost of 212 more animals that needed help. The massive endeavor successfully saved 1,000 animals, and the team intends to continue the work, inviting viewers to help save the next 1,000.
