Google Airlines is launching a new feature today that will help travelers decide when is the best time to book. Starting this week, the company is launching new insights that will leverage historical behavioral data that will let shoppers see when prices are typically low for their chosen location and selected date. This supplement aims to help consumers answer the question of whether it is better to book their flight now or wait for a lower price. For example, Google explains, that the new information can tell users that the cheapest time to book their trip is two months before departure or that the price of their trip decreases in general on the day of departure. With this new understanding of whether they are getting the best deal or not, buyers can choose to book immediately or wait for a better price.
This feature complements other information Google already provides, such as the ability to see if your current search rate is low, typical, or high, compared to past averages. In addition, users have the option to enable price tracking to receive notifications when flight prices drop significantly for a selected date or change date, depending on their preferences. Some airlines will also carry a price guarantee badge, which means Google is confident that the flight won't fail until departure. If so, Google will refund the difference through Google Pay. This is part of a pilot program available for select US routes.
