Boxer Isiah Jones has died at the age of 28 after reportedly being shot amid an alleged family dispute. The Top Rank bubble star was allegedly shot at an address in a street in his home town Detroit on Monday. Police have confirmed a 28-year-old man was killed in an incident involving a relative on Monday evening. A murder investigation is under way after the harrowing news. The middleweight, who turned professional in 2016, had a record of 9-7, with his last bout a unanimous points loss to Andrew Murphy in July.
The Detroit Police Department confirmed to The Ring that a 28-year-old male matching his name was "shot and killed by a relative at approximately 6:26 p.m. on the 9300 block of Stout Street" before saying no further information was available at this time. Boxing analyst Corey Erdman was one of the first reporters to break the news on Twitter, posting:
"Received the horrible news that middleweight Isiah Jones was killed last night. Homicide investigations are reportedly ongoing. Jones was one of the stars of the Top Rank bubble era on ESPN and fought on DAZN as well."
