San Francisco, CA – Three-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala is back for a second stint with the Golden State Warriors. This season, as in the past, he will play a vital role. After playing in four NBA Finals, Iguodala understands what a roster needs to look like and who needs to step up to compete for a championship. He revealed it’s never one player.
“Strength in numbers was our slogan. We had so much depth and so many guys that can hurt you on any given night,” Iguodala told ClutchPoints.
Iguodala talked about how it’s more of a committee thing. He said he knew Otto Porter Jr would be a key piece. He also named Nemanja Bjelica, Avery Bradley, and Jordan Poole as well. Still, it’s not just one player on the Warriors who they need because everyone is important.
“You’ve seen it year after year, and in different Finals, there’s always that unexpected guy who hurts you,” the Warriors veteran said. “It happened against Toronto (Raptors). Every different game, they had a guy that had a kind of a career night for them, and it led to them coming together to win the championship.”
Iguodala’s IQ and leadership will be needed if the Warriors plan to make some noise this year. That can make him the most important piece of them all. It’s always a good thing to have one of the great basketball minds on the team, especially when they can contribute on the floor and off.
