How to do it:
1.Pick Elon Musk as your father. Don’t pick Bill Gates or Warren Buffet. They are not leaving their children billions.
2.Be born in the right country. Some nations have more opportunities than others.
3.Be born at the right time in history. You need to be born at a time when your interests and opportunities align with the growth of new industries which you can build or transform. For example, Bill Gates was born in the 1950’s, which had him come of age right when the computing industry was ready for GUI based operating systems.
4.Actually have an interest in hoarding wealth. Very high IQ people aren’t usually interested in hoarding wealth. Elon Musk is a high IQ individual, but his primary focus is on challenging himself and conquering difficult tasks. Same thing with Bill Gates, who happens to be a very competitive person who liked smashing his competitors.
5.Have an interest in finance and develop skills in market analysis. Warren Buffet said he felt he always “had a talent for efficiently allocating capital.” To him, finding value in the market and investing in it was his interest. It was an interest that made him one of the richest men in the world.
6.Having a willingness to be corrupt. Sometimes you have to buy politicians, get some pro-monopolistic legislation passed, pay off the cops, or use blackmail to achieve your goals. Not all billionaires pay off cops or use blackmail, mind you, but a fair number of oligarchs are willing to do ANYTHING to preserve their wealth and power. Is it worth it? I don’t think so. Destroying someone else just to make money is despicable.
