Swizz Beatz Reveals His 5-Year-Old Son Produced Kendrick Lamar's "untitled 07"

During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, acclaimed producer-songwriter Swizz Beatz shared that his son Egypt helped produce Kendrick Lamar‘s “Untitled 07.” Playing up his son’s accomplishment when he was just five years old, Swizz told a story about how Egypt and the Compton artist created a bond at a Super Bowl party years ago. Originally thinking his son was bothering Kendrick after seeing them talk for around 40 minutes, “I went over and said to Kendrick, ‘Is he bothering you? Should I move him? Are you enjoying yourself?’ He said, ‘No, Swizz, I had writer’s block, and what Egypt is telling me is helping me deal with something. I was like, ‘Man, he’s five years old.’ To this day, I still don’t know what he was helping him deal with. I let it happen.”

The impactful conversation would lead to Egypt producing “Untitled 07” on Kendrick Lamar’s 2016 compilation album untitled unmastered. A little older now, Egypt joined his father to share that he doesn’t really have any musical aspirations despite being the son of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys. “I love music but I don’t really want to be a musician. I want to be a basketball player.”
