Distinguished by its remarkable size, “Apex” is an outstanding exhibition-ready mounted skeleton, measuring approximately 11 feet tall and 27 feet long. Discovered in May 2022 on privately owned land in Moffat County, Colorado, near the aptly-named town of Dinosaur, the fossil—named “Apex”—was meticulously excavated by commercial paleontologist Jason Cooper, who embraced a philosophy of “minimal intervention.” Cooper and his team expertly highlighted Apex’s awe-inspiring natural beauty while preserving critical contextual details, including fossilized skin impressions and cervical ossicles.
