Gareth Bale to Compete in the PGA TOUR's Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Former Real Madrid superstar and Wales captain Gareth Bale may have only announced his retirement from soccer two weeks ago, but the 33-year-old is already preparing for a return to competition. This time however, Bale is trading in his boots for spikes, as he will take part in golf’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as a celebrity amateur partner. In the last few years of his career, it had become something of a running joke in soccer Twitter circles that Bale was more interested in golf than in his job with Real Madrid. And it’s a perception that Bale playfully embraced when he posed alongside his Wales teammates in 2019 with a flag that read “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In That Order.”

The format of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament pairs PGA TOUR professionals with notable names across sports and entertainment, and Bale will be joined by the likes of ScHoolboy Q, Larry Fitzgerald, Macklemore, Alfonso Ribeiro and others. The tournament will be played from February 2-5, 2023, and the action will be broadcast on GOLF Channel and Peacock.
